We all have one thing that is definitely in common…The one thing that will never change, is almost everything is going to change. In this solo episode, I will go through what I have been going through for the past many months. I’ll deal with my battle over not being perfect, why vulnerability is actually a superpower you need and the imposter syndrome I’ve had to overcome in the last few months. This episode may benefit me more than you, but I think that there is someone else out there who needs to hear what I have to say, because you are dealing with it too. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it

The Chris Wolfe Podcast: The Challenges and Advantages of Rural Practices
Monday Jun 03, 2024
Monday Jun 03, 2024
The conversation between Chris and Derrick revolves around the differences and challenges of practicing optometry in rural areas compared to metropolitan areas. They discuss the lack of ophthalmology services in rural communities, the need for comprehensive eye care in these areas, and the advantages of rural practices in managing uncertainty and providing personalized care. They also touch on the misconceptions and concerns about living and raising children in small towns. The conversation concludes with a discussion on the challenges of after-hours and emergency care in both rural and metropolitan areas, and the value of optometrists in managing chronic ocular diseases. Dr. Derrick Randall discusses the financial advantages of rural optometry practices compared to urban practices. In rural areas, a higher percentage of revenue comes from medical services rather than vision plans, resulting in higher profitability. He also emphasizes the importance of knowing and following clinical practice guidelines for managing patients with chronic eye diseases. Dr. Randall highlights the opportunities for financial growth and investment in rural areas, such as real estate ownership. He acknowledges the challenges of being a prominent figure in a small community but emphasizes the fulfillment and diversity of work in rural practice.
